Arkansas wins National Grant to fund college completion efforts
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Mike Beebe announced today that Arkansas has been awarded $1 million that will fund efforts to increase college completion. The grant, financed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is part of Complete College America's Completion Innovation Challenge.

Jennings Osborne, Arkansas philanthropist dies at 67
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Jennings Osborne, the philanthropist whose Christmas lights and fireworks amazed millions died Wednesday after complications following heart surgery. He was 67.
Osborne often called himself “the luckiest guy in the world" for all that he was able to do with his wealth, which he made in the medical testing business.

Arkansas disaster assistance nears $18 million

Arkansas National Guard response to flooding
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Twenty-six soldiers with the Arkansas National Guard deploy to Pocahontas because of flooding there. The levee protecting the town has been overwhelmed by water from the Black River. Governor Mike Beebe surveyed the damage Friday.

Traces of radiation detected in Arkansas

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe sworn in for second term
LITTLE ROCK, AR – Governor Mike Beebe was sworn in Tuesday, January 11 to his second and final term in a joint session of the Arkansas House and Senate. With First Lady Ginger Beebe by his side, Governor Beebes inauguration got underway at the stroke of noon.
The wintry weather moved Beebes inaugural speech inside to the Capitol rotunda instead of on the front steps. Beebes granddaughter sang the national anthem.
