UALR signs academic exchange agreement with the Universidad Autónoma de Hidalgo, Mexico
HIDALGO, MEXICO -- The Mexican Consulate of Little Rock, Arkansas, organized a trade mission visit to Mexico to hold high-level meetings with executives of public and private sectors in order to raise awareness of business opportunities between Mexico and Arkansas. The visit took place June 22-27.

Latino “In The Heights” wins 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical
NEW YORK, NY-- For the first time ever, a Latino themed musical scored big at the 2008 Tony Awards. In the Heights took home the Best Musical, Original Score for Music and Lyrics, Choreography, and Orchestrations Tonys Awards on June 16.

U.S. citizenship not required for tornadoes disaster assistance
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- People who are not U.S. citizens may be eligible for disaster assistance for damage from natural disasters like tornadoes, floods and snow storms.
Disaster assistance is available to residents and businesses in the all counties declared disaster areas.
The aid is available to U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals and qualified aliens. Qualified aliens include those with legal permanent residence (shown by green cards). Their status will not be jeopardized by request.... |

Arkansas Red Cross promotes preparedness during September
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- September is when the American Red Cross urges everyone to “Be Red Cross Ready” and to be prepared for emergencies. The Red Cross responds with blood, food and temporary shelters to events where people’s lives are interrupted by tragedies, but there are things families can do to help themselves.

Arkansas to visit historic Mexico through a living event at the Old State House Museum
LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Old State House Museum’s exhibit, Try Us: Arkansas and the U.S.-Mexican War, details Arkansas’s role in the war between Mexico and the United States from 1846 to 1848. “Since the exhibit’s opening last June, the Old State House has explored the topic through a variety of related programs and events including scholarly lectures, presentations, and living history events,” said Amy Peck, the museum public relations director.
