          <description><![CDATA[ WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Census Bureau today released more detailed 2010 Census population totals and demographic characteristics to the governor and leadership of the state legislature in Arkansas. 

Whites make up 77 percent of the population in Census 2010, up from 5 percent in 2000. 

The black population was up 7.4 percent of the state’s population.  The Hispanic population double growing from 86,866 in Census 2000 to 186,050 in 2010 with 6.4 percent of the total population.
