LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Tuesday elections played host to many surprises, including the run-off in the Democratic primaries.
"I am going to continue to fight and go back to Washington and fight on your behalf," says Senator Blanche Lincoln following election results.
Clear and promising words from Lincoln as the vote tally came down Tuesday evening.
Bill Halter, whom many critics say couldn't hold Lincoln under 50 percent indeed did, matching the incumbent with 43 percent of the vote.
"You can sense the momentum out there, the desire for change and we're moving on," says Halter.
The two candidates now face a whole new race again raising money and campaigning, but this time they only have three weeks to do so.
"You can expect more political ads, lots of political conversation, lots of direct mail and lots of work for these candidates," says political analyst Blake Rutherford.
Analysts say getting the contributors back out that have funneled millions into both campaigns shouldn't be a problem. They say the real challenge will be trying to get voters back to the polls.
"Campaigns that were prepared for a run-off, that are organized, that can get their people out to vote are going to win on election night," says Rutherford.
Lincoln agrees.
"The real key in run-offs, and I've been in run-offs before is to get your voters out," says Lincoln.
Congressman John Boozman won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, with 53 percent of the votes. In November, he'll face either Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter, or incumbent Blanche Lincoln.
The votes between them were so close; they will have to have a Democratic run-off on June 8.
