U.S. Senator John McCain talked with ¡Hola! Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, AR – In the midst of the national support to immigration reform, US Senator John McCain the most outspoken republican in favor of immigration reform and a proposed guest-worker program visited Arkansas.



McCain, a Republican from Arizona, during his visit on April 10 to campaign for Republican gubernatorial candidate Asa Hutchinson spoke with ¡Hola! Arkansas.



Senator McCain is the co-founder of the now well known, “McCain-Kennedy Senate Bill, S.1033” filed by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass. This is the bill most Hispanics and supporters of immigration reform support.



On the rallies, Sen. McCain told ¡Hola! Arkansas:



“I hope the rallies today will motivate us to move forward with legislation which can pass both houses of congress and be signed by the President. The status quo is not acceptable, it’s just not, and I’m open to votes on that debate, if it damages my position fine. The democrat leader would not allow us to vote last week and that was incomprehensible. I think he didn’t want us to vote but I think there were others who didn’t want us to vote either. I believe that this demonstrations which is ever citizens right to peacefully demonstrate and that’s one of our fundamental rights in America that will have a beneficial effect in making us, giving us a sense of emergency to move forward on final legislation.



On the Hispanic vote this elections, Sen. McCain told ¡Hola! Arkansas:



“I think the Hispanic vote depends on how we handle issues, we republicans have done very well with the Hispanic vote in recent elections. In 2004 the president got about 44% of their vote but I think a lot of it will depend on ...
