LITTLE ROCK, AR - Two Students of UALR’s School of Mass Communication received Today’s THV-¡Hola! Arkansas Hispanic Media Scholarship on April 8 at the school’s 10th Anniversary Scholarship and Awards Banquet.
In 2009 at the ¡Hola! Arkansas Career & Business EXPO Maura Lozano-Yancy, president & group publisher of ¡Hola! Arkansas and Chuck Maulden, news director of Today’s THV presented to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Provost David Belcher the “Today’s THV-¡Hola! Arkansas Hispanic Media Scholarship” for $3,000.
The first recipient of the scholarship was Liz Sendejo. In 2010 the Scholarship went to Gabriela Corriere. This year, the Scholarship have two recipients, Luis Lopez and again Gabriela Corriere.
Lozano-Yancy said, “The partnership between ¡Hola! Arkansas and Today’s THV has been a win-win for the entire community. Both organizations strive to provide the best coverage of local news in both English and Spanish and to support the Arkansas Hispanic community.”
“The Scholarship and Awards Banquet is the annual highlight of the academic year in the SMC. It's our chance to salute our best and brightest students,” said Dr. Jamie M. Byrne, professor and director of the school.
UALR will be accepting applications for the Today's THV-¡Hola! Arkansas Hispanic Media Spring 2012 in the upcoming months. For details contact the Mass Communications Office at UALR.
