Arkansas Take Back Prescription Campaign

 [1]    2    3     >>
¡Hola! Arkansas Staff Writers

LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Pulaski County Sheriffs Office and USA Drug are teaming up to stop prescription drug abuse.

Officials at six sites across Pulaski County will collect and throw out old and un-used prescriptions.

Its all part of the national Prescription Take Back initiative.

Sheriff Doc Holladay says this is important in Arkansas because from 2003 and 2007, 15 teens died from prescription drug abuse in our state.

"Arkansas has the worst prescription drug, pain reliever abuse in the nation, and 22 percent of high school seniors in Arkansas have abused prescription drugs."

You can take the prescriptions by any of the sheriffs stations, or substations, on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at these locations:

* 3201 W. Roosevelt "Pulaski County Regional Detention Center"
* 10800 Arch Street "Pulaski County Sub-Station"
* 22624 Highway 10 "West Pulaski County Fire Station"
* 18122 Highway 365 North "Oak Grove Fire Station"
* 4323 Roundtop North Little Rock "Pulaski County Sub-Station"
* North Pulaski County Community Fest Event held at 5603 W Republican Rd Jacksonville, which is North Pulaski Volunteer Fire Station

Arkansas is participating in the nationwide prescription drug “take-back” event. This is a perfect opportunity to get rid of all your unwanted pills or other medications—both prescription and those you bought over-the-counter.

Over 190 collection sites are currently planned, with more being added every day. Federal, state, or local law enforcement officers will be on hand at each site to ensure that all pills are collected and destroyed in a safe, legal and environmentally friendly manner.
