CONWAY, AR -- Conway resident Karla Jaquez has been chosen Miss Arkansas Latina 2010 and will compete with 20 other young women of Hispanic and Latino heritage for the national title Miss Latina US 2010 beginning May 25 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Jaquez a 21-year-old college freshman is of Mexican heritage and a Director of Focus Groups for Conway Schools.
“If Karla she wins the national title, she will advance to the international Miss Latin America of the World Pageant in representation of the USA,” said Chere Alayeto, Coordinating Director of the Organization Miss America Latina.
The finals and coronation will take place May 29 in the Taino Theatre inside the resort Barcelo Punta Cana.
The ceremony will feature Nashville band Saints of Havana as guest entertainers. California radio personality Jennifer Rodriguez will emcee.
Miss Latina US is the first national competition established in the country exclusively for Latinas and continues to be the only one whose winner advances to an international competition, Miss Latin America of the World Pageant.
The organization showcased the beauty and culture of Hispanic woman in the United States since 1981.
