LITTLE ROCK, AR -- LANTERNS!, Arkansas’ only deep-winter outdoor festival, is returning to Little Rock on February 26th - 28th at Wildwood Park for the Arts for a second year of family fun and illuminating entertainment.
“LANTERNS! takes visitors for a mystical stroll along paved pathways lit by fire pits and luminaries into Wildwood’s winter woodlands to visit eight cultures around the globe including: Shakespearean England, Venice, Asia, Morocco, Egypt, old Americana, Mexico and even the Moon,” said Kristen Vandaveer, Wildwood Park Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator.
A magical evening designed to delight children and adults alike, LANTERNS! celebrates the first full moon of the lunar year with a variety of outdoor entertainment including performances by Wildwood Park’s, Art To Go!, Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre, the Central Arkansas Library System, and musical entertainment from Mariachi America, Mariachi Guadalajara, Norberto Solis and Paul Morphis.
Each vista includes activities or entertainments, a dozen horses in cultural regalia and food to purchase specific to each vista’s region and culture. Youngsters and their families will also enjoy illuminating rhymes, riddles and games as they journey around the world for passport stamps and prizes.
“Step back in time with a trip to Shakespearean England, Take a romantic ride with Little Rock Horse and Carriage to Carnival at Venice in Wildwood Park’s iconic gazebo and launch a wishing lantern on the lake, or fiesta in Mexico, cantina style, with Mexican beers, orchata (Mexican hot chocolate), mariachi music, piñatas for the niños, Wildwood’s fortune teller in Morocco and enjoy authentic lamb kabobs in Egypt,” added Vandaveer.
Sponsors and underwriters for LANTERNS! Festival include Chip and Cindy Murphy, the Central Arkansas Library System, Little Rock Family, Premium Refreshment and ¡Hola! Arkansas.
