Arkansas’ reaction to former President Clinton's surgery

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Former President Bill Clinton left hospital in excellent health after emergency heart surgery to insert two stents in a blocked artery.



The former US President walked to his car from Columbia Presbyterian hospital in New York and waved to reporters as he drove home to suburban Chappaqua.



His wife Hillary, the US Secretary of State, was with him at the hospital after postponing a trip to Qatar and Saudi Arabia by 24 hours until today so that she could be by his side.



Officials with his office said he complained of chest pain and his cardiologist placed two stents in one of his coronary arteries.



Clinton left the White House nearly a decade ago, yet he hasn't left the public eye. Those close to him will tell you it's not unusual for him to ignore advice to take care of himself. They say he's also been dealing with a cold since returning from Haiti.



Folks on President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock quickly got word Bill Clinton was in a New York hospital. Kathryn Kirby is vacationing and decided to trace his Arkansas roots.



She explains, "I was like 'Oh my gosh I can't believe it.' I just think he has offered so much to the world, to the country and to the people of Arkansas and I hope all the best for him and his family."



Upstairs at the Clinton Museum building, members of City Year were concerned and hope he'll continue to support their leadership involvement in the community.
