UALR signs academic exchange agreement with the Universidad Autónoma de Hidalgo, Mexico

HIDALGO, MEXICO -- The Mexican Consulate of Little Rock, Arkansas, organized a trade mission visit to Mexico to hold high-level meetings with executives of public and private sectors in order to raise awareness of business opportunities between Mexico and Arkansas. The visit took place June 22-27.



Among the highlight of the visit was the signing of the agreement of academic exchange between the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, UALR, and the University of Hidalgo (Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo).



Chancellor Joel Anderson told ¡Hola! Arkansas, right before his trip, “The meetings with government and business leaders should lead to relationships that are good for the people of both Mexico and Arkansas.”



Chancellor Anderson said of the signing of the agreement of academic exchange between the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) and the University of Hidalgo (Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo). “I particularly look forward to meeting rector Gil Borja and faculty of the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Hidalgo, which has a distinguished history. He and I will sign an exchange agreement for our two universities. The agreement will encourage and facilitate the exchange of faculty and students for scholarly studies and cultural experiences.”



Chancellor Anderson said “Consul Andres Chao has made this visit possible, and I am grateful to him for his leadership,” referring to his visit to Mexico.



The Arkansas delegation also met with chambers of commerce of the most important from Hidalgo, Mexico.

The delegation of Arkansas included UALR Chancellor, Joel Anderson, the mayor of Little Rock, Mark Stodola, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Regional Little Rock, Jay Chesshir, president and director of the World Trade Center of Arkansas, Dan Hendrix and Herbert Morales, respectively, and the area deputy director of Business Development of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, Becky Thompson.



Other delegation participants were the chairman of the Committee of Sister Cities, Misty Borkowski, vice president of the Arkansas Farmers Bureau, Randy Veach, president and CEO of the company PDC, Elizabeth Small, vice president of sales of the company Goff Distribution, Michael Goff, the founder of the law firm Catlett Law, Graham Catlett, president and ceo of MBC Holdings, Bruce Burrow and the Consul of Mexico in Arkansas, Andres Chao.
