¡Hola! Arkansas Staff Writers

ROGERS, AR – “Welcome to the 6th Annual Rogers International Festival” read all the signs at the largest gathering of Hispanics in Arkansas on May 13 in Rogers, AR.

“We were riding the wave of last year's success, but we just matched an even better festival this year. As always, the mission of the International Festival is to promote, educate, and serve the diverse cultural interests of Rogers and Northwest Arkansas, said Cesar Aguilar, director of the Roger’s Community Center. “This is our first priority,” Aguilar added. Ninety percent of the attendees were Hispanic.

Javier Ortiz, chair of the event said, “we offered awards to all sponsors and participants. Also, we had games and activities for the entire family. The event had the participation of different community organizations that offered their information to the entire community.”

The festival took place at the Atalanta Lake in Rogers. Festivities started at 11:00am and ended at 5:00pm with the Barrio Band and Al ‘PAPARAP’ Lopez. Admission was free and offered an incredible show from more that eight different countries.

Event sponsors were, Wal-Mart, Sam’s, Tyson, ¡Hola! Arkansas, Arvest, La Tremenda, Morning News, El Tiempo, La Prensa, Cumulus, Univision, 40/29 and Kelly Peninger Graphics.
