BATESVILLE, HEBER SPRINGS, LITTLE ROCK -- This year's the Ozark Foothills FilmFest festival celebrates it’s 5th Anniversary with cinema, art, and music of Mexico with an incredible selection of films ranging from the long unavailable documentary RIVERA, OROZCO, SIQUEIROS: WALLS OF FIRE, a stirring account of the work of the three most influential Mexican muralists.
The festival Ozark Foothills FilmFest will be celebrated from March 24 to April 9. The filmfest started in Batesville and this year added programs in Heber Springs and Little Rock. The cost per movie is $7 per adult, $5 Adults 55 and over and students of al ages.
Judy Pest, festival Executive Director said, “we’ll have Federico Hidalgo's multicultural comic-drama, A SILENT LOVE, a runaway hit at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.”
Free to the public will be the exciting unveiling of the new touring exhibit, “Movie Posters from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema, 1936-1956.” ¡Hola! Arkansas sponsors the exhibit in Little Rock at the Market Street Cinema and the films, NO TURNING BACK, THE REELS LOST OF PANCHO VILLA and THE ARROW.
“Working with the Agrasanchez Mexican Film Archive, we've put together a remarkable collection of original posters and lobby cards from an era when the Mexican Cinema rivaled Hollywood and when Mexican artists elevated the movie poster to the level of fine art. The exhibit will be on display at several venues during the festival, then begin a two-year tour of galleries and museums around the state,” says festival president and co-founder, Bob Pest.
