LITTLE ROCK, AR – The City's Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission and Arkansas National Guard partner again this year to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Maura Lozano-Yancy, Publisher of the premier bilingual newspaper ¡Hola Arkansas, will present the remarks: “Hispanics: A True Diverse Culture.”
The musical entertainment will be provided by Corinne de Orbegozo a 11 year old soprano and trained vocalist and Enrique “Rico” Novales, a classical renaissance guitarist, offering several pieces from the renaissance period. They will interpret two songs in Spanish, Morenica Dame Un Beso, from composer, Juan Vasquez, year: early 1600's and Toda Mi Vida Os Ame, from composer, Luis Milan, year: early 1600's. Rico will I will be performing several other pieces during this event as well.
The famous Little Rock Brazilian restaurant, Café Bossa Nova, will provide food samplings.
September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15, the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries-Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. In addition, Mexico declared its independence on September 16, and Chile on September 18.
This year’s program will take place on Wednesday, October 4, from 11:30a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
